Jazz Stars Unite For Disaster Victims In Japan
“Jazz for Japan”
Los Angeles, CA – “Jazz for Japan” is a “We are the World” type gathering of 25 of the top jazz musicians in the world to benefit the earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. The recordings will take place March 23rd and 24th in Los Angeles at Capitol Studios. This project features an album along with a DVD release including interviews with the artists manifesting their support for the Japanese people.
Performers include:
Rickey Minor, Alex Acuna, Nathan East, Clarence McDonald, Ndugu Chancler, Billy Childs, Boney James, Lee Ritenour, Terrence Blanchard, Kenny G, Steve Gadd, George Duke, Bob James
and many others.
These musicians have come together to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives and to a community that continues to support Jazz music. Their gift called “Jazz for Japan” will aid in the relief efforts needed for thousands of people affected by this disaster.
The album is being produced by Avatar Records and will be released April 5th worldwide via iTunes with profits benefiting the International Red Cross in Japan.
